A Bit Of My Life

Old Soul 11-year-old And Her Masterful Music Choices

I d
rove home with a stinky derby girl who, tired of me squawking along to Jane’s Addiction, asked, “Can we listen to my music now?”

All parents can relate to the tummy-twist between encouraging an 11-year-old in musical, creative expression and being subjected to some dreadful Disney spin-off.

“Fine…” I moan.

Eurythmics [“Annie Lemons”] – Sweet Dreamsimages-7
David Bowie – Space Oddity
P!nk – Raise Your Glass
Matchbox 20 – Unwell
The Beatles – Paperback Writer
Awolnation – Sail
Eminem & Rihanna – The Monster [“He makes words like magic.”]

If ever there was a time for me to do a parent mic-drop…

My concern was that some of these lyrics could be a bit on the heavy side for her. She assured me that, “music is inspiration-sharing and for people to get out their fuss-tration”.

Oh my goodness, I am in awe of this wee kid.
